Lost Quarry
Lost Quarry is the Brooklyn-based ceramics practice founded by Doris Josovitz. Drawing inspiration from natural landscapes, found objects, and spaces, each piece is shaped by hand with mindful deliberation, evolving organically to create pieces rooted in quiet fluidity and a nod to the natural world. The result is a collection of sculptural vessels, tableware, lighting, and furniture that feel both timeless and modern.
A background in fashion, design, and interiors helps inform Doris’s holistic minded, process-driven approach to the work. Creation involves a consideration of texture, depth, gesture, and form. Working with natural materials, including clay, brass, steel, and oak, and sometimes incorporating salvaged or repurposed elements, each piece is made to endure.
All objects are designed to live in the space between art and utility. A textural vessel may inspire a daily ritual of arranging blooms. A wall piece can provide a moment of quiet contemplation. A sculptural side table offers a pedestal for beloved books and ephemera. At its core, Lost Quarry celebrates imperfection, the unexpected, and pockets of beauty in every day.
